Position 1 – Wastewater Collection Systems Technician
Principal Function: The Wastewater Collection Systems Technician is responsible for maintenance of Wastewater Treatment Plant and Sewer Collection System.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Ensures operations of wastewater system complies with applicable standards, state and federal regulations, and Town ordinances.
- Performs maintenance of catch basins, manholes, combination and sanitary lines, storm collection, and equipment.
- Operates specialized equipment such as sewer televising system and jet/vac truck.
- Completes pretreatment activities including, but not limited to, investigating, sampling, analyzing, and auditing.
- Responds to concerns, problems, and/or complaints in a timely manner, maintaining a customer service philosophy.
- Assists with operation of municipal lift stations.
- Assists with biosolid disposal such as loading trucks and hauling off-site.
- Assists with updating sanitary and storm maps.
- Assists with final inspections of sanitary sewer and storm sewer utilities.
- May perform cross-functions with Water Department and applicable lab testing.
Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D.; and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Minimum Collection System Operator Class I certification required. Valid Class B CDL is desired. Previous experience working in municipal government is preferred.
Work Schedule and Rate of Pay: While the role follows a work schedule of 6:30AM to 3:30PM, Monday through Friday, this job may require work beyond these hours which may include weekends, holidays, and on-call status. Frequent in-town travel will be required. $21 – $27/hour.

Position 2 – Water Laborer
Principal Function: Employee serves as a Water Laborer responsible for maintenance & repairs to the water plants and distribution system.
Assist in the daily operations of the Water Department including but not limited to:
- Assist with all aspects of the department to ensure safe drinking water.
- Assist with, as required, ensuring compliance to meet or exceed EPA, Safe Drinking Water Act, and other rules and regulations of water quantity and quality requirements.
- Assist with implementing and enforcing backflow program, as well as responding to requests and inquiries related to installation and testing of backflow preventers.
- Assist with water meter reading activities. installation of meters, testing and analyzing of daily water quality samples and residential water connects and disconnects.
- Assist with water main repairs.
- Assist with, as required, the general maintenance of all Water Department buildings.
- Assist, as needed, with responding to inquiries and complaints regarding water and related areas.
- Attend all meetings and trainings as required.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding Town issues.
- Serve on 24-hour on-call for emergencies and monitoring activity with utility related emergencies, citizen notifications of utility failures, and spill incidents.
- All other duties as assigned by the Water Field Supervisor or Water Superintendent.

Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or G.E.D.; and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Previous water experience is preferred. Previous experience working in municipal government is desired. Class B CDL is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of and ability to make practical application of department and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to ensure proper operation and maintenance of department vehicles, equipment, and tools.
- Must have general computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Must have a safe work record with good ethics and dependable attendance.
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License, a safe driving record, and must remain insurable through the Town’s liability insurance carrier.
